Library Pausing Acquisition of New Materials Until July 2021 Due to the UC Library Search Project

Books on shelves at the UC San Diego Library.

On July 27, 2021, the Roger and Melvyl library catalog systems that the UC San Diego Library has worked with for decades will retire and be replaced with a new unified system that brings together all ten University of California campuses. This new unified discovery and borrowing system is called UC Library Search

To ensure a successful migration to UC Library Search, Library staff need time to prepare, do quality control, and verify the accuracy of current holdings. To this end, we have paused adding new items to Roger and Melvyl.

During this pause, the Library will be unable to order new materials (books, e-resources, journal subscriptions or media) until after July 27, 2021 when we migrate to the new shared library management system. Relatedly, Course Reserves for Summer Session I courses will be restricted to items currently held by the Library.
