The undergraduate enrollment statistics present Asians at being the highest percent of ethnicity enrolled at UCSD. As an incoming Asian American student I thought that I could easily feel this sense of belonging. However, I did not consider the several ethnic groups of Asia and how much different I would still be and feel amongst them. The photo above symbolizes how we are grouped as one but are still composed of unique characteristics as individuals.

Asian Americans are perceived as model minorities who no longer need assistance or diversity resources. This exclusion contributes to how underrepresented the different ethnic groups are. As a Cambodian-Vietnamese student I understand how we are grouped together as one, however, I recognize our individual differences in which others might not.

For the Culture, Art, and Technology (CAT) 1: Migration Narratives in the Sixth College writing program taught by Amanda Solomon in the Fall of 2016, students were asked to think about how they view the current campus climate and respond to the fourth chapter of Angela Kong's dissertation, "Re-examining Diversity Policy at University of California, San Diego: The Racial Politics of Asian Americans" Thesis (Ph.
