Description | Architectural feature almost certainly 'ex-situ', the integrity of the piece suggests it was placed during the abandonment process at the concave interface between two room fill dumps (18793) and (19808). The uniformity of the plaster core suggest/hints at early sculpture piece, reworked at a later date, although this core may simply be an artifact of the construction process. Underside showed evidence of dowling or a wooden frame structure. Possibly used for suspension on wall. Plaster core may indicate that this was a damaged or defaced bucrania or moulding. Not clear where it came from [in the building], deconstruction revealed nothing special about the core, [which was] plaster and brick/pise like material (yellowish). External plaster facing was 3-4cm thick closely resembling the wall plaster. |
