The Multi-Media Group Collection documents the history of Scripps Institution of Oceanography and UC San Diego, including aerials of campus, conferences, and workshops, interviews of scientists, expeditions and cruises, ships, and the Acoustic Thermometry of Ocean Climate (ATOC) project.

The Multi-Media Group was established in the early 1990s as part of the SIO Communications Office; often working closely with the SIO Photographic Laboratory who assisted in capturing images. The Multi-Media Group was responsible for the production of public relations and educational materials, including Explorations magazine and video series, as well as videos for UCSD-TV and the SIO website.

Director: Charles Colgan (around 1990-2007). The group ceased operation in July 2007.
