The UC San Diego LGBT Campus Historical Collection documents the experiences of LGBTQIA+ community at UC San Diego, and reflects the activities and interests of students, staff, faculty, and alumni. It includes correspondence, proposals, reports, speeches, flyers, and photographs arranged in numbered volumes.

The LGBT Campus Historical Collection and Project was conducted to document and preserve the diverse experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people at UC San Diego, with the goal of filling representation gaps in the historical record. The project was initially developed under the name "LGBT Campus Archive and History Project." Many individuals, organizations, and institutions participated in building the collection and curating the volumes. This collection was originally housed in white binders and maintained at the LGBT Resource Center on campus.

The UC San Diego Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Historical Collection documents the experiences of LGBTQIA+ community at UC San Diego, and reflects the activities and interests of students, staff, faculty, and alumni. It includes correspondence, proposals, reports, speeches, flyers and photographs. Materials focus on campus climate, policies, and decisions; events and outreach; and wider political, social, and cultural dynamics.

Materials were originally housed in binders and assigned a volume number. Additional documents and photographs were labeled by topic. Scope and Content of Series

Series 1) VOLUMES: The content of binders, typically arranged in two main sections: General Materials, and Clippings. General materials sections contain correspondence, speeches, flyers, and memorabilia. The clippings sections contain original and reproduced articles from newspapers, newsletters, and other periodicals. Additionally, there are Appendix volumes that contain reports, long documents, and photograph albums.

Materials that can only be placed within a general time period were arranged within miscellaneous sections, separated by decade. Some outreach materials, like brochures, have been placed in the year they were distributed, rather than the year they were produced. Volume 16 not acquired by the Library, but according to the project guide it contained campus climate reports from 1992, 1995, and 1997.
