Peter Seaton was born on December 16, 1942 in New York City. He graduated from the City College of New York in 1964. After college, Seaton became involved in the New York poetry scene and was a frequent contributor to L=A=N=G=U=A=G=E. His first book, Agreement, was published in 1978, followed by The Son Master (1982) and Crisis Intervention (1983).
Peter Seaton died in New York on May 18, 2010.

Series 1) WRITINGS: Typescript and manuscript poetry drafts, drafts of unpublished books of poetry, and a transcript of an interview of Henry Hills conducted by Seaton. Materials are arranged by title, when given, with miscellaneous poems and drafts filed at the end. Most material is undated.
Series 2) MISCELLANEOUS MATERIAL. Includes: a letter to Charles Bernstein; a photograph of Seaton and his then wife Judy Lippa; an article about Seaton by Larry Price; a typescript poem dedicated to Seaton; and several love letters written by Seaton to artist Lee Sherry.
