Description: The papers include teaching files, research files,

computation notebooks and data. Teaching files include course

notes, syllabi, examination questions and other material

documenting SIO courses including SIO 214, Introduction to Fluid

Mechanics, 215, Experimental Fluid Mechanics and 219,

Introduction to Turbulence. Research files include information on

the Gibraltar Experiment and files documenting the Central Ocean

Dynamic Experiment (CODE). Winant was a principal investigator

for the CODE project, a four year National Science Foundation

funded multi-institutional oceanographic project to identify and

quantify the processes that govern wind-driven currents over the

continental shelf. CODE was funded in 1980 and began work in

1981. Computation notebooks include information on the Gulf of

California Experiment and CODE. The Data Series consists mainly

of information on CODE.
