Description: The accession consists of subject files generated or
collected by Professor Joseph L. Reid. The material consists largely of
correspondence, reports and other documents concerning NORPAC, an
international synoptic oceanographic survey of the North Pacific Ocean
undertaken in 1955 including participating agencies from Japan, Canada
and the United States. Reid served as secretary for NORPAC. The
collection includes some material documenting Equapac, a 1956-1966
international oceanographic expedition in the waters of the South
Pacific. The accession includes three films of expeditions. Two of these
are identified as original films taken on Boreas, which was a leg of
Scripps Institution of Oceanography Zetes Expedition, January to
August 1966.
