Description: The accession consists largely of phycologist Ralph Arnold
Lewin’s poetry and publications, although it also includes some
scientific material including correspondence, electron microscope
images of diatoms, and a few research files on algae and diatoms
including Prochloron. Lewin’s poetry was oftentimes biologically
themed. The accession includes original manuscripts and drafts of essays
and books, including Abacus and Swallows, The Biology of Algae, The
Biology of Women and other Animals, Merde, and Poems on Politics,
Pollution and Religion. The accession also includes a card index of first
lines of verses.
