Description: The accession consists of personal papers of deep sea biologist
Robert Raymond Hessler, including photographs. The accession includes
material documenting Hessler’s research, including his work on
Hutchinsoniella. The accession includes documentation of his research
visits to Sweden, Woods Hole, his sabbaticals, research conferences and
field trips. The accession documentation of field trips and expeditions
including a photo album containing color photographs of a field trip to
Tasmania with Janet Fruze in early 1980. The accession includes original
negatives, prints, slides and other images including photographs of
colleagues and drawings and photographs of specimens. The trip files
include folders on Howard L. Sanders, Woods Hole deep sea biologist and
colleague of Robert Hessler. The accession includes letters, diplomas and
other documents of Robert Hessler’s childhood and education, and some
letters documenting his early years.
