The collection consists of the field notes of marine biologist  
Edward W. Fager generated from 1956-1989 while he was  
Professor of Marine Ecology at the Scripps Institution of  
Oceanography, UCSD. The collection contains a set of four  
volumes of field notes by Fager dated February 11, 1956-August  
16, 1974 which give an overview of his field activity. The  
volumes record observations of tides and marine life, detailed  
descriptions of specimens collected on field trips on land and  
diving expeditions, including Dike Rock off Scripps beach north of  
the pier. The collection includes folders of data compiled from  
field trips during Fager’s Marine Ecology 225 class at Scripps  
Institution of Oceanography. The collection includes information  
on scuba diving field trips including log sheets and regulator  
information. There is one folder containing undated photographs  
of graduate students at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
