Description: These are additional papers of Theodore Bullock Papers found outside  
his DSDP office. The accession includes field records and films. The filed records  
consists of data files documenting observations/experiments with sharks, rays,  
Sternopygus, sea lions and other marine life. There are also files of meeting notes  
for conferences, including a conference at Kotor, Yugoslavia March-May 1973.  
The accession includes 3 8mm and 6 16mm films documenting expeditions and lab  
experiments. The 8mm color films are labeled: Alpha Helix Amazon Expedition:  
Brazil, 1967; Panama Barrio Colorado Is. 1965; and Belem, 1967. The 16mm  
films include cans labeled Bullock, 1964; J.A.R. film, 1969; Sloth Panama 70 2 of  
2.  
Neurobiologist Ted Bullock was born in Nanking, China in 1915, the second of  
four children of Presbyterian missionaries. He married Martha Runquist. He  
received an A.A. (Associate in Arts) degree from Pasadena Junior College, in  
1934. While a student in Berkeley, he worked on the termite research project for  
Charles A. Kofoid. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of California at  
Berkeley in 1940. After serving for 20 years as a professor of zoology and member  
of the Brain Research Institute at UCLA, Bullock joined UCSD in July, 1966 and  
worked at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography until his retirement. He was  
elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 1963.
