UC Selects Ex Libris for First-Ever Integrated Library System

On January 6, 2020, the University of California (UC) Libraries announced that they have selected the Ex Libris Alma and Primo services to deploy the UC’s first-ever systemwide integrated library system (SILS).

This positions the UC Libraries and the California Digital Library for unprecedented integration of its catalogs, which will make access and retrieval of the physical and digital holdings of all 10 campuses and the regional library facilities easier for all users.

The selection of a vendor is one of many steps toward implementing and migrating to a SILS. This year, the UC Libraries will embark on a phase of work that will focus on implementation and decide both when and how the libraries should harmonize policies and practices.
