UC Library Search: New Systemwide Library Discovery Tool to Launch Summer 2021

NEW UC Library Search Tool

Finding and borrowing resources from libraries across the University of California (UC) system is about to get a lot easier!

On July 27, 2021, the libraries on all 10 UC campuses will be connected through UC Library Search, a unified discovery and borrowing system that features the following enhancements:

  • Search UC San Diego’s local library collection as well as the collections of all 10 UC libraries using one universal interface;
  • Locate the full text of millions of print and online books, journal articles and other content;
  • Borrow and renew materials from any library in the UC system using your Active Directory (AD) login credentials

UC Library Search will replace Roger as UC San Diego’s local library catalog and Melvyl as the UC-wide library catalog search tool.

As a single, unified system, UC Library Search offers powerful tools to help all UC libraries make data-informed decisions that will help enrich the user experience at each institution.

We’ll be sharing additional information about UC Library Search in the coming months. In the meantime, we invite you to visit our website for more information about the project, including the timeline for the release of this new and improved system.

Please note, as we transition to this new system, there will be no interruption to current library services, imposing minimal impact on our patrons.
