On March 15, 2023, the Library and Associated Students celebrated the launch of a menstrual equity pilot program in Geisel Library. The introduction of this program makes Geisel one of the first spaces on campus to offer free menstrual products to campus community members.
Third year undergraduate Liane Barkhordar (pictured center holding a box), who serves as a Campus Wide Senator for Associated Students, led the charge on this initiative working with Library leadership and other Library staff to bring the pilot to fruition.
Each public restroom on the 1st and 2nd Floors of Geisel now have baskets with Aunt Flow products. The baskets are located near the sinks in the women’s restrooms, and in individual stalls in the men’s restrooms. Feedback on the program and its products can be given by scanning the QR code at each location.
If this program proves to be successful in Geisel, this student-led project will expand more widely across campus.
