Love Data Week 2026: How to Find and Access Data

Scrabble titles scattered on a wood surface with the word "DATA" clearly visible.

Locating the data needed for a project or to address a research question can be a daunting task, but the Library is here to help!

The Finding Data & Statistics LibGuide is a user-friendly way to start your data search. The guide indexes a wide variety of popular and most-used data sources. Use the Find Data by Topic tab to select your area of interest — art & culture, data science, education, healthcare, employment, marketing, immigration, oceanography, urban planning and more! — and start exploring. Interested in text data more than numeric data? Check out the Text Data tab.

Note that this guide includes publicly available data sources as well as Library-licensed content. Resources with a Triton icon may prompt you to log in with your @ucsd.edu credentials for full access.

Want to learn more about data sources? Drop by this week’s Learn at the Library session, Wednesday, February 11, 3:30-4:30 p.m. in Geisel Library’s Dunst Classroom, for an interactive overview of how to find and access data from a wide variety of disciplines and sources.
