UC San Diego Library Renews Partnership with German State and University Library

After the completion of a successful three-year partnership, the University of California San Diego Library recently extended its international agreement with Göttingen State and University Library. The original agreement paved the way for regular library staff exchanges that focused on sharing expertise in areas such as research data management, digital archiving, and information technology. Beginning in winter 2017, the partnership also enabled the libraries to exchange knowledge about how to support campus researchers in data curation, how to exploit complementary skills for mutual assessments of digital infrastructure, how to conduct trainings in digital humanities, and how to experiment on transatlantic digital preservation.

In the next phase of the cooperation, the two libraries—both with a strong digital agenda—plan to work on the impacts that data-intensive research and education has on the libraries’ portfolio for students and researchers and on the internal organization.
