The Smallest Show on Earth: Paper Theaters Explored celebrates the long history and recent creative innovations in this unique art form. Viewers will enter tiny worlds of make-believe and be transported to theaters from around the globe, as well as iconic La Jolla stages. The exhibit feature paper theaters from the collection of Scott Paulson, events and exhibits coordinator at the Library. Highlights include theaters influenced by folktales of Mexico as well as Japanese literature. San Diego-based artists Iain Gunn and Bridget Rountree of the hybrid puppet company Animal Cracker Conspiracy (ACC), have lent contemporary paper theaters to the exhibition that blend fine art, puppetry, performance art, physical theater, film and mixed media.

Please note that public hours at the La Jolla Historical Society Wisteria Cottage Gallery are Wednesday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
