The La Jolla Cinema League was local a silent film club founded in La Jolla in 1926, whose silent-era works have stood the test of time. League members wrote their own screenplays, ran the cameras, and experimented with shooting angles and lighting. They developed the films themselves with their own lab equipment and utilized some sophisticated editing techniques.
This collaboration between the UC San Diego Library and La Jolla Historical Society, which is a celebration of La Jolla Cinema League, began in 2010 and continues with annual programs, usually offered in February and August. For more information about the screening, contact Scott Paulson at (858) 822-5758 or spaulson@ucsd.edu.
