Public concerns about vaccines are not new. Early vaccines, such as smallpox in England and polio in the United States, faced strong opposition. Despite continued improvements in vaccine administration safety, the global perception that vaccines are risky is growing.

This exhibit explores historical examples of anti-vaccination movements, the importance of health literacy, how low health literacy can lead to negative health outcomes when paired with mis- and disinformation, and techniques on how to become better consumers of health research.
