Bees: Celebrating World Bee Day and Our Status as a Bee Campus | Exhibit

When
May 1, 2024–Jun 15, 2024
All Day

An exhibition of research from UC San Diego’s Holway Lab featuring bee-related materials from the Library’s permanent collection will be on display at The Nest at Geisel Library from May 1 through June 15, 2024.

A highlight of the exhibit is a collection of bee specimens from San Diego’s coast, desert and mountain areas. These specimens were collected by James Hung and his student lab workers and represented several years of field activity. Hung donated some of the specimens he amassed to the Library in 2014 while pursuing his PhD at UC San Diego in the Holway Lab. Also noteworthy in this exhibition are treasured items from bee historian Joe Bray. This exhibition represents the Library’s 10th consecutive year of springtime bee outreach. We’re also celebrating World Bee Day and UC San Diego’s proud status as an official Bee Campus.

Join us for a special lecture by PhD student Jess Mullins on May 20 (World Bee Day) at 12 p.m. No registration is required.
