The following was shared in a Campus Notice to all academics, students, and staff at UC San Diego on September 19, 2024:
The state’s budget situation has caused some financial constraints for the University of California. As a result, the Library must adjust its services and collections investments to preserve those that are most useful to the campus community.
The following changes will be introduced beginning September 23, 2024:
- Modified hours at Geisel Library:
- Sunday through Thursday, the building will close to all users at 10 p.m.
- Friday and Saturday, the building will close at 6 p.m.
- Some public computers on floors 1 and 2 in Geisel Library will transition to monitor-only stations to best meet current student needs.
- The media reserves service has been curtailed. If you need streaming media that is not currently in the Library’s collections, please complete the collection request form.
- Additional services may experience delays as we reallocate resources; thank you for your patience.
While we make these adjustments, we are committed to supporting your academic success and serving you as efficiently as possible while maintaining the high-quality resources you expect from the Library.
