THOUSANDS OF SPANISH REFUGEES AT FRENCH FRONTIER VILLAGE. -- Thousands of Spanish refugees struggled to cross the French frontier last night as General Franco's troops swept forward. At least, 2,000 were clamouring against the barrier at Le Perthus, but the French Mobile Guards and Gendarmes locked hands and kept them back. Photo shows French gendarmes and police keeping back the Spanish refugees in the main street through Le Perthus. Note Republican soldiers in lorries.
