Gifting and wedding celebration 2 of 2
- Collection
- Description
-
The bride and groom sit beside a mat on which wedding gifts are placed. This wedding at Labo did not happen officially on that day because the minister, who lived on the south coast of Malekula, never arrived due to outboard motor problems. However, since the feast was ready, as were the participants, the meal and the giving of gifts took place. As the shadows indicate, this happened late in the day when people realized the officiant was not going to arrive.
