C-45 - Crowds Greeting Daily Arrival of Steamer at Avalon, Santa Catalina, California
Mrs. And Mrs. R.E. Bateman. 3830 Thornwell Road. Ashland, Ky.
My dears! We are arriving in sight of the island - enjoying it very much. Have seen several flying fish, - the ocean is quite calm. Love from all to all. Aunt Ida.
Welcoming crowds gather to greet the daily arrivals from the mainland with cheerful songs and laughter. In Avalon's gaily tiled Fountain Plaza, with its bowers of palm and olive trees, and the soft music of troubadours, it is a place where the realism of everyday life becomes suddenly unimportant. It is a place to play, to dream, to let the rest of the world go by.
