FI (Fill): Deepest locus of sounding -- Layer of red sand, probably a wadi deposit, in between virgin soil and the first signs of human activity. There are still, mostly in the upper part, very small chunks of slag (<1 cm) and very small chunks of charcoal. The sand consists of small grains -- rounded quartz in addition to some quartz pebbles.

Many land snails (uncollected), tiny chunks of slag and charcoal. Appears to continue into sterile soil.
