Untitled: Camp Calvin B. Matthews Momument: front view
- Collection
- Description
-
Monument in Mathews Quad commemorating the former Camp Calvin B. Matthews, a military training facility from 1917 to 1964, which occupied the land on which the University of California, San Diego now stands. This monument is conceptually related to Michael Asher's drinking fountain, Untitled, 1991. Asher's drinking fountain pulls in the already existing elements of the site, bringing symmetry to a previously asymmetric layout.
