SU (Surface) -- Reddish-orange fill, partly covered with hard ash. -- Hard reddish surface/ E prb/u.L.53,54 -- Very compact red-brown sediment, probably a surface, partly covered with hard ash and scattered bits of slag. -- The layer spreads below the lowest course of the gateway complex's E wall and therefore pre-dates it. It seems contemporaneous with similar surface at the S

Covered by ash and sediment possibly introduced during the construction of the gateway complex. -- Small circular features (ca. 10cm diam.) possibly postholes. Similar appearance also at surface L51. -- probe (L51).
