Vanuatu Mobile Force (VMF), First Independence of Nationhood Anniversary Parade
- Collection
- Description
-
When Vanuatu gained independence from France and Great Britain, one of the earliest government investments was in a mobile force. The Vanuatu Mobile Force was trained by Papua New Guineans and became a source of national pride among ni-Vanuatu. The name was abbreviated to VMF, which some expanded again to Vanuatu Mother F**kers.
Governed by the two European powers since 1906, Vanuatu has had a unique colonial history as the Condominium of the New Hebrides. Because of its disparate policies, the colonial government was unofficially known as the "Pandemonium" and the diversity of its rule was reflected in a similar variety of cultural influences and immigration. - Creation Date
