Log of the ship Peruvian, 1868-1870
- Description
-
Holograph ship log book of the merchant ship Peruvian, recording a voyage beginning at Hong Kong in June, 1868. The trip continued to Manila, Indonesia, and into the Indian Ocean toward Adelaide. In August 1869, the ship departed Japan for Hong Kong. After reaching port in September, having laid over until January 1870, the Peruvian headed back toward Manila, through the Sunda Islands and across the Pacific. The unnamed captain who maintained this log recorded details of open ocean travel, such as wind conditions and navigational calculations.
