Gu Yifu retires from the newspaper business and purchases an old chair to enjoy his later life. But his daughter doesn't like the old chair and doesn't allow him to bring it home, and the store won't take it back. An officer from the public security bureau investigating thefts of cultural relics goes to his home. Suddenly, he becomes famous due to the chair, which is missing, and is considered as national treasure. He accidentally finds the chair again and immediately goes to the public security bureau to plead his innocence, but he is disappointed by their not completely believing him. In order to rescue her father from trouble, his daughter sells the chair as national treasure. Later the buyer finds it is not a real national treasure in view of his appraisal and asks him for the real one. He has no alternative but to return the chair to the curio shop
