Vivian's Wedding, Vivian kills 1 of 2
- Collection
- Description
-
On the day before her wedding, it is common for young women to perform a ceremony in which pigs are killed. This 'dure' ceremony brings prestige, if not a specific rank. However, on this occasion, the bride-to-be took a low 'hungwe' rank called 'vavahegi nangarie' as she is allowed to do. Her husband-to-be steadies the pig.
