Slag and ash layer -- Slag layer -- Layer of slag and ashy material on the northern part of the excavations's northern extension. Large scale locus extending from the northernmost wall of the pre-th century early complex to the northern permeter wall of the walled ard surrounding the main -- Represents the remains of copper production activity that took place at this spot between the abandonment of the early complex of cnstruction and the building of the main structure f the 9th century phase.

Dense appearance of slag of various types and sizes. Large quantities of tuyere pipes and furnace fragments. Scattered ceramics.

Top part f the layer most probaly removed during the levelng of te yard during the th century construction phase. -- Slag accmulation app[earance at the section differs considerably from that at the western section inside the early phase chamber. There theslag appears at diagonal lines. The western section of 1849 shows horizontal rough lines of slag beneath -- phase structure. Considerable ammount of industrial waste of copper activity scattered throughout the fill. By the northern end layers of crushed slag replace the rough slag accumulation. -- the wind blown sediment. The eastern section shows crushed slag in fine layers to the south of wall L1851, while the section at the east of L1849 shows rough accumulations of slag and furnace remains. Continuation of excavation in NW corner recommen.
