Goodenough, Ursula W.; Staehelin, L. Andrew (2021). CIL:38705, Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. In Cell Image Library. UC San Diego Library Digital Collections. Dataset. https://doi.org/10.6075/J0GQ6WFW
- Description
-
Cells of the unicellular photosynthetic alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii were fixed, sectioned, and examined by transmission electron microscopy. In this section of the ac-31 mutant grown mixotropically, very little stacking occurs. See Fig 17 in Goodenough and Staehelin 1971 J Cell Biol 48:595-619.

- Researchers
- Methods
-
Cells were fixed with glutaraldehyde, post fixed with osmium tetroxide, dehydrated, embedded in epoxy resin, and thin sections cut, stained and examined with a Hitachi HU-11C TEM.
- Technical Details
-
Preparation: glutaraldehyde fixed tissue; tissue in plastic embedment
Relation to intact cell: microtome-sectioned tissue
Item type: recorded image
