Kava Behind the Kitchen, Waileni

In 1979, Chief Simon Tari planted a kava seedling under the thatched roof of the Rodman kitchen, where the plant could take advantage of the water that fell from the roof. Three years later, the Rodmans returned to their house in the village and found that Simon's kava had grown.
