IFREMER gridded satellite altimetry significant wave height
File Size |
File Format |
Description | NetCDF files contain significant wave height data gridded on a 1 degree longitude by 1 degree latitude bins from 66 degrees North to 66 degrees South at daily time intervals. Data is derived from the French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea (IFREMER) cross-calibrated along-track satellite altimetry SWH product. |
CCMP2 deresolved wind speed
File Size |
File Format |
Description | NetCDF files contain wind speed data averaged in 1 degree longitude by 1 degree latitude bins from 66 degrees North to 66 degrees South as well as in daily time intervals. Data is derived from the Cross Calibrated Multi-Platform version 2 (CCMP2) wind vector analysis. |
WW3 deresolved significant wave height
File Size |
File Format |
Description | NetCDF files contain significant wave height output from the WAVEWATCH III (WW3) wave model forced by Climate Forecast System Reanalysis winds which has been averaged in 1 degree longitude by 1 degree latitude bins from 66 degrees North to 66 degrees South as well as in daily time intervals. |

Global significant wave height and wind speed decorrelation time scales
File Size |
File Format |
Description | NetCDF files contain decorrelation time scales for observed and modeled significant wave height and wind speed computed from integrals of the lagged covariance for each month. |
Least squares fit parameters for significant wave height and wind speed
File Size |
File Format |
Description | NetCDF files contain phase, amplitude, and fraction of variance explained parameters of the weighted least-squares fit to the mean, annual, and semi-annual cycles for observed and modeled significant wave height and wind speed. |
Monthly and seasonal probability of swell
File Size |
File Format |
Description | NetCDF files contain monthly and seasonal probability of swell computed using modeled WSP and peak frequency or mean period. |

This collection consists of NetCDF files that contain intermediate products derived from observed and modeled data produced by the French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea and Remote Sensing Systems corresponding to analysis by Colosi et al. (2021). The data can be used in conjunction with the open-source code https://github.com/lcolosi/WaveClimatology. For a detailed description of file structure and how to reproduce the figures, refer to the Readme file.
