Varney-Redwine deep sea coring instrument developed at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Dr. Roger Revelle used this instrument to study marine sediments from various localities between Panama and Alaska. This important oceanography instrument was used not only by the Institution but also by the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey and also by the U.S. Navy. Circa 1930-1940.
