Crushed Slag Layer -- Crushed slag next to early wall, penetrating beneath foundations of the northern wall of the man sructure (L1800). Same layer as appearing in L1827 to the east and L1832 to the north. -- Possibly repesenting layer of crushed slag that served as a foundation bed to the main structure. Possibly introduced for that purpose.
