Description | This unit is located in the north-east corner of the excavation area in B89. The shape is ovoid and its color is reddish gray in the highest part of the layer and gray-reddish in the lower part, so the unit is layered and unoriented we have found a tooth and a finger and some bones probably belonging to an infant. After the excavation of the unit 19879 we understood that this unit is a fill of a retrieval pit aimed to remove some bones (maybe a skull?) from the bigger pit, because on the bottom of the cut we found one or two skulls. The unit was excavated by leaf-trowel. 28/07/13 While we were digging the unit 19897 we exposed the skeleton (U 30900), this skeleton is exactly on the bottom of the cut (U 19880), filled by the unit 19877. So, this unit is not a post retrieval pit but a burial fill. |
