Wang Nanfu is a Chinese born American documentary film director who grew up in a poor area of China and came to the U.S. to study journalism at NYU. Her first feature documentary film Hooligan Sparrow documents Chinese human rights activists efforts to draw attention to the sexual abuse of young girls by government officials. Her second film One Child Nation confronts the terrible consequences of China’s one-child policy. Both films received prestigious awards.
