Includes 2 3/4" x 4" leather-bound notebooks with handwritten annotations on Morse's sea voyage to California, early California experiences including his horse being stolen and retrieved, his appointment as justice of the peace and judge of elections in 1852, and someone's threat to shoot him. The 1855 notebook is largely blank.
