Fernando Llorente García nació en 1921 en Madrid. Fernando recuerda que vivió gran parte de su infancia en Segovia. Recuenta que estudió arte y asistió a la Universidad Popular, donde Antonio Machado enseñaba. Fernando explica que empezó a frecuentar la Casa del Pueblo poco antes de que estallara la Guerra Civil. Cuenta que durante la guerra se unió al Ejército Republicano. Fernando fue arrestado al finalizar la guerra y estuvo detenido hasta 1948. Describe su encarcelamiento en las cárceles de Porlier, Santa Rita, Carabanchel, Ocaña, y Burgos. Fernando relata que después de ser dejado en libertad, empezó a participar en el Partido Comunista de España y el Club de Amigos de la UNESCO.
Fernando Llorente García was born in 1921 in Madrid. Fernando remembers spending most of his childhood in Segovia. He recalls studying art and attending the Universidad Popular (Popular University), where Antonio Machado taught. Fernando tells that he began frequenting the Casa del Pueblo (House of the People) shortly before the start of the Civil War. He recounts joining the Republican Army during the war. Fernando was detained after the end of the war and was imprisoned until 1948. He describes his incarceration in the Porlier, Santa Rita, Carabanchel, Ocaña, and Burgos prisons. Fernando relates that after being released, he became active in the Communist Party of Spain and the Club de Amigos de la UNESCO (Friends of UNESCO Club)
