Lehi in village with her pig
- Collection
- Description
-
This pig is called "Demo" short for 'Demonstrashun' (demonstration) because he was given to Lehi at a demonstration for the return of neighboring laming plantation land before independence. In colonial times South West Bay residents kept pigs outside their village, a practice encouraged by missionaries who were concerned about health risks. After independence, people brought the pigs back into the village and returned to the close relationship with pigs that had existed in the past.
