Juana Gorocica was 89 years old at the time of the interview and had been a widow for 23 years. She had married in the church and had 2 daughters (though one had died in 1995). She lived with grandchildren and their 3 children. Her devotion to the Catholic Church through participation in gremios (guilds) and prayer was a prominent theme in the interview.
