NATIONALISTS IN RUINED LERIDA. -- Scenes of ruin greeted the Nationalist soldiers when, after prolonged and heavy fighting, they captured and took possession of Lerida, the key town of North Catalonia which had been stoutly defended by the loyalists. Once a fine city of nearly 40,000 people, Lerida has been severely battered in the fighting. Photo shows Nationalist soldiers in a ruined street in Lerida as they occupied the city.
