Palade, George E. (2021). CIL:41049, Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. In Cell Image Library. UC San Diego Library Digital Collections. Dataset. https://doi.org/10.6075/J0WQ02PJ
- Description
-
Electron micrograph of a thin section through a portion of the chloroplast of the unicellular green alga Chlamydomonas. Free ribosomes are seen as dark particles within the chloroplast stroma. They are considerably smaller than the cytoplasmic ribosomes seen at upper right. Ribosomes from chloroplasts, mitochondria, and prokaryotes sediment at 70S, compared to 80S for cytoplasmic ribosomes.
