Lester Tari's son, Brian Tarivui (born in 1964), takes his first rank on the day that his father achieves 'mambu' rank. His father acts as his sponsor. Brian is taking the rank of 'vavahegi' for 'duruku,' which is a bit unusual for a first rank. Usually, a child's first rank is 'vire,' or 'moli.'
