- Description
-
Xia jin is considered to be one of China’s most important film directors. He made films during the communist period and later made films which exposed some of the flaws of the Cultural Revolution from a humanist perspective. I met him twice, once in his studio in Shanghai where he wrote a letter for me so I could see all of his films at China Film Archive and later in NYC. This photo was taken at Columbia University before I knew him.
