- Collection
- Description
-
The main grain in this distilling operation is finger millet. The grain is soaked in water, boiled and the steam run through spiral copper tubing and dripped into containers. The alcoholic beverage is known as either "kachasu" or "Kanchina". The people in the photo are neighbors at the fisheries housing, and making this kind of drink is usually done by women as a way to produce some private income.
