Extended interview with Frank Alexander and Mary Arnold is a very strong tape visually and thematically. They talk about life in the desert, how dogs bark all night long, cooking and eating routines at the Slabs. Frank and Mary are looking for a travel trailer and describe the problems of buying a used car in California. In describing the difference between S.S.I. benefits between Louisiana and California, the theme of poverty is addressed on a level outside the immediate vicinity of Slab City.
“People are starving down there in Texas and Arkansas, I hear.” There is lots of interesting information on this tape by Frank and Mary. - Creation Date
